I'm currently working my second season for Inwood Art Works' Film Works Alfresco summer film series. I started last year as an AV assistant, and now I'm one of the lead video technicians.
As NYC's only bilingual film series, they hold free weekly screenings at The Hudson in Inwood for June through August, the Hispanic Society Museum and Library in Washington Heights for September, and then one-off screenings at other locations throughout uptown Manhattan.
I set up and operate the cameras that are used to film the live music pre-show that would then be used for the organization's weekly podcast. I'm also responsible for setting up the projector for the film itself, running the proper audio and video cables, operating the soundboard and the presentation software known as QLC+, and setting up the various screens we had (including stationary screens and Open Air Cinema-branded portable screens). It's a very hands-on job that provides great live event experience – and I get to see free movies out of it, too!
Below is an example of one of the live performances I helped film in September 2025. I was postioned on the stage-left camera.
